Can you please explain 13 down, Europeans like Pictures at an Exhibition and people born in late March (10). I worked out it was Hungarians based on other letters I had, obviously Hungarians are Europeans but I don’t understand the rest of clue, especially why Pictures and Exhibition have capital letters. People born in late March are Aries star sign which kind of fits…

Tricky one! ‘pictures at an exhibition’ are HUNG (ie displayed). You’re right, people born late March are ARIANS.

I think the capital letters are to mislead us by suggesting the musical composition ‘Pictures at an Exhibition’

      I hope that is helpful!

Thanks for posting the clue, Brodie! AFTERS is an older word for ‘dessert’ . And we can use HAVE to mean ‘eat’, as in ‘have an apple’. Bay rum is the definition, it’s an old type of aftershave.

Hamish, it’s very helpful if you post the wording of the clue you need explaining. Otherwise, I have to find time to go and look it up and you may not get a very timely response 🙂

So, 19A is ‘Native American makes a cheap cocktail’ (6). ‘Native American’ is the definition. ‘Cocktail’ here signifies an anagram of ‘a cheap’: ie APACHE.

          I hope this is helpful!

OMG that is a Tossman special! Thanks very much. Sorry about not putting in the clue number, I will do that in the future.

No problem, Hamish – in fact it’s best if you include the wording of the clue 🙂
