Hi, I’ve finished Kropotkin 1032 but can’t see how to parse 21 down. Pluck is a suitable definition for bottle but I don’t understand the wordplay and would be grateful if you can enlighten me
Good question, Philip! The clue is really just two definitions – as you point out, ‘pluck’ is a synonym for courage or ‘bottle’. It also has the meaning of the heart etc of an animal to be used as food. See https://www.merriam-webster.com/dictionary/pluck
